On my wedding day, I weighted the lowest I had ever weighted as an adult. In fact, I weighed about 10 pounds less than I did in high school. Ten years and two kids later, I then weighed the most I had ever weighed as an adult. I couldn’t call it baby weight either, because my youngest “baby” was now six years old. It was more like Taco Tuesday and Pizza Friday weight.

I had tried exercising and dieting to lose weight. I’d do pretty well during the day, but it was another story at night. In the evening after I put the kids to bed, my husband and I like to relax on the couch and watch TV. The problem with this is I like to snack while I’m watching TV, so I’d bring out the popcorn, chips, cookies, etc. All the hard work and sacrifice that I made during the day was ruined by my late night snacking habit and as a result, I wasn’t able to lose any weight.

Therefore, I knew I had to change my eating habits. If you aren’t aware of the effect changing your eating habits can have on your weight, then you should consider reading this article. Essentially, it makes the world of difference. Fortunately, I discovered a hack that works well for me and it is something I’ve actually been doing every day. Everyone has. I brush my teeth. Sounds simple, right? It is. Instead of brushing my teeth right before bed, I brush my teeth after dinner. The feeling of my teeth being clean and having minty fresh breath curbs my appetite and desire for any late night snacking. Even if I am sitting right next to my husband who is eating one of my favorite snacks (Rude!), my mind tells me I don’t want it.

I’ve been using this hack for two months now and I am happy to report that I have already lost 16 pounds! it’s also been great for my teeth, which suffered the continued onslaught of evening snacking for hours before I actually brushed them before bed. My friend has been using the same hack after I told her all about it and even her dentist at Pakenham Dental Surgery said that they could tell the difference! Her teeth are looking less stained and so are mine! Dieting and exercising have also obviously played a major role in my recent weight loss of course, but I know I couldn’t have lost the weight without this amazingly simple hack.
